105th Annual Conference
Welcome Alumni and Friends!
2012 marks the 120th year of veterinary medicine at Auburn, and I invite you to enjoy springtime on the plains by attending Auburn’s 105th Annual Veterinary Conference scheduled for April 12-14, 2012. While you’re attending educational sessions, catching up with friends, and touring the college’s new Overton-Goodwin Educational Wing, your family can preview the 2012 Auburn football team during A-Day.
Annual Conference sessions and labs offer the latest in continuing education from experts in the field and feature alumni and faculty—Drs. Brad Fields, Jim Floyd, Jacob Johnson, and Soren Rodning, who have ensured a safe food supply for U.S. Armed Forces, the health of military working dogs, and the integrity of animal agriculture in Iraq and Afghanistan while serving in the military.
This is an Auburn gathering that you will not want to miss. I look forward to welcoming you back.
War Eagle!
Acting Dean Calvin Johnson ‘86
Conference Highlights
- Wine and Cheese Exhibitor Reception
Visit with colleagues and classmates, talk to Auburn CVM faculty and students, and browse the exhibit hall while you reconnect with familiar faces. Please be sure to thank our sponsors for their financial support which helps reduce the cost of registration.
- Clinical Pathology Lecture and Lab: Body Cavity Effusions
The lecture offers a practical review of the classification and interpretation of body cavity effusions in large and small animals. The lab will use case examples to demonstrate why various types of effusion are associated with specific disease processes. Each case will be accompanied by fluid smears. Microscopic evaluation of the smears will be guided by a group of clinical pathologists. Projected images will be used to highlight specific findings of interest for each case. Members of the clinical pathology faculty will assist and answer questions.
- Keynote Speakers
Auburn faculty and alumni – Dr. Brad Fields, Dr. Jim Floyd, Dr. Jacob Johnson, and Dr. Soren Rodning – discuss how veterinarians work to ensure a safe food supply for U.S. Armed Forces, the health and safety of military working dogs, and the integrity of animal agriculture in the countries they served.
