Herris Maxwell, DVM, DACT
Dr. Herris Maxwell, a Mississippi native, graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978 and completed an internship in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Missouri in 1979. He entered private practice in Columbia, Mississippi in 1979 and remained in that private practice for the next 26 years. During his time in practice, he provided care to livestock and companion animal species, with a focus on reproduction and production medicine. In 1999, he became a diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists, the AVMA recognized specialty in reproductive medicine.
Dr. Maxwell joined the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 as an associate clinical professor and was promoted to clinical professor in 2012. His assignment has included dairy production and management, reproductive medicine of large and small animals, and food animal practice. Although his appointment is primarily clinical, a small research component has provided support for projects in reproductive endocrinology, bovine mastitis, infectious infertility and BVD infections in wildlife.
